Hearts

In celebration of the day of love-
which also happens to be the anniversary of our engagement-
And since it was Sunday and we couldn't get our usual feast at Boston Pizza
we made our own heart shaped pizzas!

Dollies

There is one thing that Ruby loves more than her mom or dad
I know- hard to believe
But she does have one true love
and that is dollies.
Any dolly- she just wants one- a new one- every day.
We obviously don't give in every day, not even every other day- but judging from the ever growing pile of dollies we have in the corner we do give in sometimes.
To our credit- grandmas and grandpas give in too and have added to the pile. As well as aunts and uncles...
They are always on her mind. She now has a bag that she carries her dolls around in because her arms just can't hold all the dolls she requires to get through the day.
She sleeps with the bag, she drags the bag around costco, and takes it over to Jayne's house.
Any time we say- Maybe we can get a toy- she says- yeah but that toy is a dollie.
When we got home from walmart- (doll-less I might add) and we were talking about the upcoming Valentine's day and how we were going to make heart shaped pizzas Ruby says 'And maybe you made me a dolly.'
I didn't....
But we did buy her Madagascar 2- which she will be equally happy about-
I guess there are 2 things she loves more than mom and dad.
1. Dollies
2. Madagascar

POOP

YUP- you read it right.
I wrote poop.
But for a good reason.
It has been on the snelldogs household brain lately.
We are constantly talking about poo, cheering when a poop is made, asking if she needs to go poop, and occasionally cleaning up poop.
Ruby is potty training.
We are going on day 5.
I didn't want to write about it earlier- I was worried I would jinx it.
She is doing a great job and I am the most excited of anyone I think. I haven't had to change a diaper in 5 days!! WHAT!! This is amazing!!
Today Justin is home and has taken over the 'remembering to remind Ruby to go to the potty' position.
As I sit here I can hear them in the bathroom.
Justin has encouraged her to talk to her poop- and tell it to come out.
(I say whatever works)
First conversation with poop
'Hey poop- i got new big girl unders. But they are dora (she has been wearing princess ones earlier) Do you like dora? Poop get out of me!!!'
Second conversation with Justin
Ruby-' I'm going to poop on you- BOOM- poop on your face'
Justin-' Do you want me to leave?
Ruby-' You better leave or I'm gonna get poop on your face.
Needless to say he left.

YEAH FOR POTTY TRAINING!!
Earlier this week Ruby was excited because she thought she didn't need to wear pants anymore because she has big girl unders. (We had her just running around in unders because it resulted in less things to clean if necessary)

Lets hope this trend keeps going and we have a fully potty trained child soon- One who eventually wears pants and unders at the same time of course...

Candlemas 2010

Candlemas- you're gonna love candlemas....
We do!
We celebrated our annual crepe party yesterday.
Candlemas 2010.
It was awesome!
We had a ton of participation on the skit end of things and a plethora of toppings.
I want to thank all who came and participated- you are the best!
We were missing a few of the key participants of Candlemas and I want you to know that you were sorely missed.
The skits were awesome- some of the best we have ever had.
I am already planning next years.
Ok not really.
But I am excited for next years!
Here is a taste of one of the skits we did this year.
It was madagascar inspired. We called it crepagascar.

I know! We're awesome!

Tetris wars

Tetris wars are back on!
Ok they have always been on- but conveniently I have 'forgotten' to write about them.
BUT
Now that I am in the lead I found it pertinent information again.
I am in the lead- A BIG LEAD.
In fact I may go as far as saying that my score can never be beat.
Unless I do it- I am pretty sure that I am the best tetris player that ever lived. Pretty much unbeatable.
The high score is now: 2924
Beat that Justin!

I'm A Winner!!

I won! I Won I Won!!!
I actually won something- me who never wins anything.
We leave all the winning to Mr. Snelldog.
But I did it- I won!
I entered and I won!!
Justin told me that once you learn to win it is easy to keep going- so I am now on my way to many wins in the future....
I was so excited when I found out that the only response Justin thought was appropriate was a hug.
He has obviously won things before...

If you want to see what I won go here.
Myers will make a super cute pirate don`t you think?
I DO!
And apparently so did random.org....

Merry Candlemas!!

Some of you may be celebrating Ground hog day today- But you would be wrong... You are missing the true holiday of February 2nd- that being Candlemas.

Just wanted to say Merry Candlemas to you all! We wish everyone could be where we are so we could all eat crepes together. But alas- it may be a small candlemas this year...
But the Snell's are cooking up a Madagascar inspired crepe skit- so you should all be excited!
Just to give you a taste of candlemas- here is our skit from last year- SNL inspired...

Body Guard

If ever you feel the urge to call this cute little guy.....

ANY nickname- be sure to pass it by this little girl first...

Or experience the Ruby Wrath...

Just for your convenience I am including a list of names that have been tried and rejected:
My Guy
Mister
Angry Bones
Happy Bones
Handsome

She has also rejected the following for herself:
Pumpkin
Sweetheart
Princess
Sweet Girlo
little girlo
Beautiful

So just to be safe I assume you would not be allowed to call Myers any of the above names either....

On a side note- we are on the prowl for a hunny bunny baby... Anyone seen them around?
Ainsley has one and Ruby likes it ALOT.
Direct quote..."Ainsley has a hunny bunny baby and I wish that I could have one of my very own."
How could I say no to that?
Plus it seems like fair payment for her work as Myers' personal Body guard.... doesn't it?

She really does love him....

Puffy Pants

Justin's Remedy for wet pants:
Needed:
One Child who spills a whole glass of water on them in the Ikea restaurant
A whole wad of paper towels
An awesome dad

Directions:
Stuff paper towels into child's pant leg until they stay.
The number of paper towels will vary depending on the stretchiness of pants (unfortunately in this case her pants were REALLY STRETCHY)

To Remove:
Let child run around Ikea until all paper towels or napkins miraculously disappear....

-if I wasn't so distracted with being at ikea for the second time in two days and really wanting to leave I would have taken a picture- but take it from me- she had some major puffy pants.... they were awesome... and her pants did dry...

Can I Speak To Your Manager?

We have been to Ikea 2 days in a row.
I know it kind of seems exciting- who doesn't love ikea?
It has great stuff- and I love it as much as the next person.
Until we had to go their twice in 2 days.
Its an hour away and we have 2 kids now- that makes everything 22 times harder.
Especially when they are stuck in a van.
So the issue was this:
We bought a crib mattress from the as-is.
The outside cover was just a little dirty and the rest was as good as new.
We got our mattress- and the plethora of other things we bought- packed everyone like sardines in the van and headed home.
We took the cover off the mattress put it in the washer and brought the mattress upstairs for safe keeping.
As Justin is putting the mattress in the crib all I hear from downstairs is- 'The mattress doesn't fit- its about a foot too long'
Yeah right- I don't believe you.
Thanks is what I yelled back up the stairs
Turns out he wasn't lying

Now the issue is that it was as-is and as-is is NOT returnable.
We thought we had an exception though because it was labeled wrong and therefore not our fault.
The only way to fix this situation was to call ikea. It was 10pm and we were tired. We had spent 2 hours driving and 6 hours in ikea so we decided to wait until the morning.

THE MORNING PHONE CALL
Justin made the phone call.
All he wanted to know was that they would take it back- just so we didn't have to make that drive if there was no point.
The operator was the LEAST helpful person EVER.
Here is how the conversation went:
Justin (J)- ~explains situation~
Operator (O)- 'I can't tell you, you will have to go into the store'
J- Can you put me through to the store so I can talk to them (it was just a call center that you have to call)
O- No I have no way of contacting the store
J- Can I speak to a manager please
O- You will have to go into the store
J- I want to make sure they will take it back before I make that drive
O- you will have to go into the store
J- Can I speak to a manager?
O- What is this regarding
J- What we were just talking about
O- You will have to go into the store
J- Can I speak with a manager?
O- What is it regarding?
J- What we just talked about\
O- you will have to go into the store
J- Are you saying I can't talk to a manager?
(Now is the climax)
O- Are you saying that I am saying that you can't talk to a manager?
(Really- did she really say that??)
J- laughs- please can I talk to a manager
O- what is this regarding?
Finally Justin was able to get through to her- and it seemed that he was going to get to talk to a manger until- the operator came back on
O- I just talked to the manager and she said that you will have to go into the store.
J- Can I talk to her please?
O- what is this regarding...
Finally after a few more minutes we were able to get through to the manager and all was figured out- she was able to contact the store and we were able to return our mattress and get one that actually fit.
But seriously can you believe it???
